MY FINAL BOW:
A Student Photography Portfolio

I chose to do something creative with my project because I have always loved Photography. But, for the many years I have done it, I have never expanded my style beyond nature. I wanted to use this project as an opportunity to expand my skills to Documentary Photography; to photograph different things in my life from the last couple months, reoccurring and new, in my perspective,.

Some photos were taken on school sanctioned field trips, some were around campus during my free period, some outside of school, but many were during rehearsal. The few locations I used were The Players of the Palace Theatre, the Sierra Crossroads Center, LA Live, and other locations around our Jurupa Hills campus. The different photo styles I tried documenting for this project were abstract, architectural, and portrait photography.

One of my biggest challenges was just trying to find the time to take photos, especially when my locations didn't change much. My photos started to seem very repetitive. This was the time I used to try different angles, or trying to take "nothing" and turn it into a cool image.

One of the things I learned was that you can get amazing shots from some of the most common items, that you wouldn't think twice about. A few of my favourite "Nothing to Something" photos were of things backstage in theater. As a photographer, I grew because I am no longer restricted to my previous comfort zone, and I've started to enjoy documentary photography. I now know that I have fun taking photos of other things, especially finding the abstract in things and capturing fun moments between people.
